It’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere and in full swing! As a northerner it’s getting cold! Your winter health is important for the winter season. This week high is 20F and negative to 10 above Zero in the evenings. It makes it hard to get the exercise that is needed. I love nature and prefer to be outside for my health with the fresh air to the natural elements with the sun. So, if you are stuck in the coldness as I here is some helpful tips or ideas for exercise. Of course, always let someone know where you are going and how long you will be gone. Dress for the elements, make sure you have of way to reach someone if something unexpected occurs. And always have an emergency (health, survival) kit. Beware of danger from animals and others. It’s best to be with a group or others. Here I have included winter health tips for winter season.

1. Cross Country Skiing: This is a great sport for any age and you can get out in the fresh air.

2. Skiing: Now this can be done almost at any age, however if you are new to this sport and in the later stage of life I would recommend trying out cross country skiing instead.

3. Swimming: at the local YWCA or wellness center. Here aquatic yoga and aerobics.

4. Workout at home: This is an option for anyone, you could do jumping jacks, swats, pushups, yoga, running in place, and much more.

5. Yoga: This is great for anyone, there is basic/slow yoga’s, cardio yoga, hot yoga, & sculpt yoga.

6. Snow Removal: Volunteer to help out your neighbor for snow removal. You’d be surprised on how many people would love this assistance.

7. Snow Shoe walking: If you like to hike, but are concerned with the depth of snowfall, this is ideal for walking over the snow.

8. Sledding: Sledding this is great to get out with the kids or grandkids. Who doesn’t love sledding and returning home for hot chocolate or tea.
