PRAIRIE NURSE — ABOUT PAGE
The Prairie Nurse is a space where nature, herbal tradition, photography, and everyday wellness meet.
Here, I explore plants, seasonal rhythms, and traditional herbal knowledge through a grounded, nurse-informed lens shaped by over 20 years of nursing experience, including work as a nurse educator.
I also share photography and simple recipes inspired by nature, seasonal living, and traditional ways of preparing food and herbal comforts.
Who I Am
Hi, I’m the creator behind Prairie Nurse.
I am a nurse with over 20 years of experience in healthcare, including time spent as a nurse educator. I currently live in the Midwest, where the landscape, changing seasons, and native plant life deeply influence how I observe nature, prepare food, and approach wellness.
Alongside my clinical background, I’ve spent years writing and sharing content about herbs, nature, and traditional wellness practices. Much of what I explore comes from time outdoors, studying seasonal cycles, practicing photography, and learning how plants have been used in everyday life throughout history.
My work sits at the intersection of:
- clinical experience in modern healthcare
- traditional herbal and culinary knowledge
- nature photography and observation
- and everyday recipe creation rooted in seasonal living
What You’ll Find Here
Prairie Nurse is not a medical advice platform. Instead, it is a blend of:
Herbal history & remedies plus traditional plant knowledge
Nature-based observation and seasonal living in the Midwest
Stories of old-world apothecary practices and folk traditions
Simple herbal recipes, teas, and comfort-based food traditions
Nature photography and visual storytelling from the field
Field notes from exploring plants in natural environments
This space is built around curiosity, education, creativity, and connection to nature—not medical treatment or diagnosis.
The Heart of Prairie Nurse
At its core, Prairie Nurse is about care, creativity, and connection.
Before modern healthcare systems, people relied on plants, kitchens, and apothecaries to create comfort, nourishment, and daily rituals of care. While medicine has evolved, the human need for grounding, rhythm, and connection to nature has remained constant.
This is what I explore here—the intersection of historical herbal traditions, lived healthcare experience, food as nourishment, and modern curiosity about natural living.
Future Herbal Work
As this space grows, I am beginning to develop small-batch herbal creations inspired by these traditions—simple, seasonal, ritual-based blends and apothecary-style wellness products.
These offerings are rooted in:
- traditional herbal inspiration
- seasonal cooking and recipe traditions
- nature-based simplicity
- and everyday wellness remedies
They are intended for comfort and lifestyle use, not for medical treatment, diagnosis, or cure.
Important Note
All content shared on Prairie Nurse is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
