9 Winter Herbs For Solstice

Winter herbs are the hardiest and common to find especially around the holidays! The winter herbs are usually very affordable for anyone’s budget. There are many herbs for the winter solstice. These are my favorite to use during this time. Most of the winter herbs in this category taste great on any or with most winter meals!
Winter Herbs of the Solstice season:
1. The winter herb that you can find at any local small or big grocery store is chamomile tea. The reason I love this herb is the powerful properties the herb can help with flu and cold season to work against the viruses.
2. Frankincense is the go to from the bible the smells from the essential oils can reduce stress and provide a calmness in your home.
3. Now this plant the Mistletoe is not to be used to cook with however is part of the winter solstice tradition. If you are under it the European Folklore for Christmas is you are supposed to kiss under it for good luck! Fun fact it was invented by the Viking men to encourage fertility due to the small berries representing babies.
4. Pine essential oils or pine needles being boiled in the water to purify the air & a great smell in the home. This is very important due to the home not getting its usual fresh air during the cold months.
5. Rosemary is such a hardy long term refrigerated herb. I usually add it at least twice to my meals during the week, and its great for you hair follicles.
6. Cedar Herbs can be a great healer used in teas for bronchitis, pneumonia, rheumatoid arthritis are just some areas it works its magic.
7. Bay Leaves winter herbs are great to add to soups or stews. Its health benefits are top notch, for some healing areas includes immune system fighter, digestive aid eases the stomach, blood sugar balancer improves the insulin functions, thus lowering the insulin, the oils in the bay leaves is a antibacterial heavy weight fighter, that fight the bacteria of staph infections and so many more germs.
8. Blessed Thistle is not just a prickley thing, its properties help with indigestion especially after spicey acidic foods, most type of infections, wounds that need some assisting. Also, a blessed thistle and milk thistle are different plants.
9. Juniper berry *very careful different types of junipers they are not all the same* is another wonderful winter herb for the winter solstice. Juniper berry is familiar to most people it seems very common than people think. Juniper berry winter herb in large doses can make you sick, due to an oil thujone that can cause the sickness. However, in small doses helps with blood pressure, inflammation and blood pressure. It is used in meals, especially with gaming food if you hunt game its a great addition.
Of course with all of these herbs you need to check with your doctor especially a naturopathic doctor if possible before you use any type of herb.
