First, we need to realize all hands on deck are going to be needed if a another great depression shows itself! This is how communities survived in previous famines, economic systems collapsed, and wars. Everyone has their own gifts God gave them and resources prior to the world downturn.
Second, realize it will be okay and just like every other generation before us they made it through it. It seems that when everyone is mostly doing well for decades and people start to not be humble, caring towards other and showing humility. God sends a reminder that its time to reflect and help others. The saying that is used for this is, good times make weak men and hard times make strong men. This of course includes women as well.
You also need to realize you can prep all you want, but there is expirations on packed food. It also is not the healthiest for you. If something happens with weather floods or anything else you were not expecting it will be gone. It’s important to prepare ideas to continuously getting a food supply coming to your table. Some ideas is chickens eggs, animals, small acres of land to put cattle on, this way you don’t have to live there, but the animal carries on with their life there. This could involve dairy cows, that produce milk and thus you can make different types of cheese.
Besides these concepts that were used and invented during this timeline. I have some other creative ideas!
Thinking ahead you will want to prepare far in advance. This includes having all the needed products, such as jars, recipes, books on how to homestead and any type of tools you maybe missing from your home.

Vegetables are the most essential to grow and harvest. If you don’t have a farm, they can last along time in your home just from the store. Plus you can freeze them to stretch them longer.
Potatoes are a life savior you can make so many different meals with this vegetable. Its packed with a lot of nutrition too!

Carrots are one of the longest vegetable in your refrigerator and a great survival in cold climates for growing.
Broth is the home this can stretch your meals and has great flavor with health aspects to boot especially in the winter months. Don’t forget bone broth is the best, so remember if you have meat with bone you can make your own. The store bought is extremely costly.
Oranges are another cheaper type of fruit that is usually easy to come by and can last a long time in your refrigerator. If your lucky to live in a warm climate you should starting growing an orange tree, or any type of citrus tree right away.
One of best ideas to produce is growing apple trees in your backyard. Get started on growing a apple trees ahead of a great depression that way say if it happens in 10 years then the tree will have that amount of time to grow and start yielding crops for you. The best part of this is you can make so much with apples!

Another idea which may seems out of the norm. Is to get together with family or friends and buy a small amount of farmland to grow your own crops for surviving off during this transition. Of course, not everyone will be open and ok with sharing their food especially if things get very tough. An idea would be to talk with a lawyer ahead of time and get something in writing that makes it clear where everyone’s portion is on their terms and what kind of fruit or vegetables can be grown. Some plants don’t grow well around other types.
