Prairie Nurse Easy Cheap Healthy Winter Herbs

I can’t believe the winter season and holidays will be here soon! One of my favorite herbs is Rosemary. It is also one of the easiest winter herbs to grow and find at any local grocery store even in the Midwest is Rosemary Herbs! You can use it with almost any winter meal and beverage. It’s packed with the such great health benefits too! Blessed are we to have this herb, and so hardy even if you don’t have a green thumb it’s pretty easy to keep it growing inside year round in your home. Let’s dive into the health benefits for Rosemary. 

Benefits of Rosemary

It can the potential for the following health aspects. 

1. Rosemary has large amounts of Manganese, helps thin your blood, heals injuries quickly. 

2. Potential reduce Cancer due to carnosic acid, great antioxidant. This is supposed to reduce the cells in the body.

3.  The carnosic acid and rosmarinic acids increases the immune system response. 

4. Rosemary has antibacterial, antifungal, & antiviral properties. So, rosemary is cheap and amazing for sure. 

5. I personally enjoy putting it in my crockpot with lemons and clean my winter home air and this helps purify it especially when someone is sick in the home. 

6. Studies show the smell reduces stress, and increases peoples sleep another win for Rosemary herbs. 

7. Do you have a test to study for soon? Well, guess what Rosemary is shown by using its aromatherapy it pays off for a memory aid. Even in within 20 minutes! 

8. It has phytochemicals, helps fight disease. 

9. Nutritional values, you bet! (Pantothenic acid, niacin, thiamin, folate & riboflavin) 

Interesting fact about Rosemary, that it can stimulate the menstrual flow, so you are not supposed to use this herb during pregnancy, according to my reference. Not sure how that works if your pregnant, the reference didn’t explain it further. 


I personal enjoy adding Rosemary to my Turkey or Roasted Chicken and sometimes add it to my eggs in the morning! 

Some people enjoy Rosemary leaves added to water for Rosemary Tea. I have not tried this myself, however I do add it to my crockpot. 

Mashed Potatoes with Rosemary is very good as well, if you like extra flavor to the potatoes.
